Confession of faith affects every area of our lives where we apply it. Father God creates the universe by speaking it into existence. God gives us the authority to form our lives by our words. What we believe and say matters.
What Bible truths should we speak, and confess, over our lives?
- Our Father God is good, and a rewarder of those who seek Him
- The blood of Jesus cleanses me from all sin
- There is power in the name of Jesus
- The Bible is the Word of God. We must say what the Word says about us.
- The power of God is made available to us through the indwelling of Holy Spirit in us.
- The love of Father God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit for us is the reason for Him giving unmerited righteousness to us.
Why is believing in the heart and saying with lips important?
We become Christians, redeemed children of God, by believing in the heart and saying with the lips. Romans 10:9-10: Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart a person believes (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Christ) and so is justified (declared righteous, acceptable to God), and with the mouth, he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms [his] salvation. We grow in Christ by reading, believing, and then confessing its truths over our lives.
Faith needs to be more than a hobby, it needs to be our Profession
Consider being a person who lives by faith as your Profession. A professional level of performance requires study, disciple, focus, and practice. Faith is just as important as any occupation. We should not be amateurs at living by faith, only doing it in our spare time on weekends. It should be the chief work of our life. Taking the Confession of Faith to a professional level can benefit your work at any job, and area of life.
Confession of sins will not save us. It is the belief in our hearts and confession with our mouths, that Jesus died and was raised from the dead, that saves us. Only this takes away the penalty for all our sins – and produces salvation.
Confession of Faith affects three realms
Now let’s look at how our confession of Faith benefits us in three realms. What we say affects these realms/kingdoms/seats of authority.
In Heaven.
This is where we should have and should want to have the most authority. Life on earth and eternity weigh in the balance of the scales of justice in heaven. Many people do not believe in a God who created the universe, and whose word holds our universes in place. If you have been hoodwinked into believing there is no such place, you will not seek to be known there. You will ignore the most important realm there is.
Others know there is a creator, but they have been lied to about who that is, where he is, and how we can be reconciled to Him. Christians know there is a creator, and that He made a way for us to be reconciled unto Him. Jesus was sent from heaven to earth to redeem us. The redeemed have authority in heaven.
The redeemed can approach heaven even while still on earth, with our prayers. When we confess Jesus as Lord, Jesus our high priest takes our confession to the Father. Jesus elevates our words to have the weight of not only our confession but of His authority as our High Priest.
Hebrews 3:1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus
In addition, Jesus makes room for us beside Him on His throne in heaven, at His right hand.
In the heart
Now let’s go from the farthest and highest heavens to the smallest and closest place where a living human being has authority. It is in the human heart.
This is a most important realm, kingdom, and seat of authority. Jesus made a saving relationship available to all mankind 2,000 years ago. But only those who confess Jesus as Lord can invite him into this realm of their hearts. Jesus invited us to share His throne in heaven, and now we can invite him to share the throne of our lives. We can choose to not only give Him visiting rights, but we can also make him the final authority in this realm. We can have His words in our hearts, and The Word in our hearts.
Like it or not, we share authority over our lives with others.
Here is something not everyone understands. You may think you can be the final authority in your life. The truth is every mature person has others under him and has others in higher realms over them. This is true of everyone in heaven and earth, including Jesus. Only the Father God, the MOST High God, has no one over Him. Mankind at one time had only the Father over him but allowed the Devil to step in. Like it or not, you are not alone, or all mighty. We all will have sin ruling over us if we do not allow Jesus to intervene.
Bob Dylan said it best in the song, ‘You Gotta Serve Somebody.” You may be wealthy, you may be poor, living in a mansion, or a dome, but you gotta serve somebody. It may be the devil, or it may be the Lord, but you gotta serve somebody.
Demonic Entities in the Third Heaven.
Demonic principalities and powers are in the final realm, kingdom, and place of authority we must contend against. The realm of the demonic inserts itself between heaven and earth. So, it is fitting that its seat of authority is in a spiritual location called the third heaven. It is between the High heavens, God’s domain, and earth.
The devil cannot dominate a person who declares the Lordship of Jesus.
We must expect his attempts to wreak havoc, but I will not fear satan. My confession of faith is that Jesus is my Lord, and I have what I say! Though the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, my Lord has authority over all principalities and powers. Jesus came to provide life, and that more abundantly. By believing and confessing our position in Christ; sin, sickness, viruses, darkness, grief, and fear, cannot dominate us.
Our heart needs to hear us speaking to build ourselves up on our most holy faith. We need the enemy to hear us resist him. The confession of faith in Jesus is what forces the devil to flee from us. This is how we repel the attacks from the kingdom of darkness. This is how we fight our battles, the confession of our faith, singing our praises, and our testimony.
I do not spend much time conversing with demonic spirits. But I do profess what I believe audibly. I do this for heaven’s hearing, for the sake of my soulish realm hearing, and any enemy in earshot.
Confession of faith is the confession of the Word
The Word says who we as believers are, and what we have the authority to confess or decree over our lives. We are above and not beneath, the head and not the tail. We are well, whole, healed and delivered from calamity. Jesus has taken the penalty for sin, sickness, grief, and fear. We hold fast to the love of God and power in the Blood of Jesus. JESUS IS LORD
