Healing is always the Will of God

Healing is always the will of God. Yet many people, even Christians, are not sure this is true. Salvation is also always the will of God. These days I get a lot less push back on the latter statement.

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. 3 John 1:2

We know that not all people are prospering, not all are healed, and not all are saved. Let’s start with this question: If salvation is always the will of God, why are not all saved?

Salvation is always the will of God

God’s will for all to choose salvation is not the same as all making that choice. Humans have free will. They can choose to accept Jesus as Lord, or not. No one is worthy, but salvation does not depend on anyone’s works or worthiness. It depends on the finished work of Jesus on the cross.  Anyone can accept Jesus as their sin sacrifice and enjoy salvation.

The fact that some people have not accepted, understood, or even known this truth does not invalidate it. It only hinders them from receiving it. The power to get salvation comes from knowing and believing what the Bible says on the subject. Even if no one in your family ever received salvation, it cannot prevent you from receiving this free gift. We must transform into what it means to be a born again and forgiven child of God.

Healing is always the will of God

Jesus says, “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).” John 10:10 God sends Jesus to make a sacrifice that overcomes the stealing, killing, and destroying the devil unleashed when Adam sinned. This abundant life Jesus comes to give us clearly is to have a miraculous effect on our present life, not only our spirit prospering in eternity.

Healing is always the willl of God because sickness and affiction are the principle ways the devil works. To deliver all captives from all of the ways the enemy has broken and impoverished his children must be the will of God.

Jesus says God sent Him to heal all

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. Luke 4:18

Why are we less confident that it is the will of God to heal all, than it is for God to be willing to save all? Perhaps we are not aware of healing being a vital part of the mission Jesus does and then asks us to also do.

8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 1 John 3:8

“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” Mark 16:17-18

Sickness is afflicion by and opression of the devil

The oppression of the devil is what makes everyone sick. Healing them all is what destroys the works of the devil. Jesus heals thousands who were not worthy, righteous, or full of faith. How many of those who Jesus raises from the dead have faith for their healing? Jesus, doing the will of Father God, commands the sick to receive their healing, and He heals them all.

If healing is always the will of God for all, then why are not all healed?

God’s will for all to choose faith in Jesus as their healer is not the same as all doing it. Humans have free will. They can choose to accept Jesus as healer, or not. No one is worthy of divine healing. But healing miracles do not depend on anyone’s works or worthiness. It depends on the same finished work of Jesus on the cross that provides salvation.  Anyone can accept Jesus as their healing sacrifice and enjoy deliverance from anything afflicting them.

The fact that some people have not accepted, understood, or even known this truth does not invalidate it. It only hinders them from receiving it. The power to get healing comes from knowing and believing what the Bible says on the subject. It also requires believers to learn how to heal and lay hands on others for their healing. Perhaps someone in your family never received the healing they sought. This need not prevent you from receiving this free gift. We must learn that the born-again child of God has healing as a part of their inheritance.
